ARISTOTELES Project Aligns with European Commission’s Strategy for Future Research and Technology Infrastructures
- 14 May 2025
The European commission has recently launched a valuable opportunity through a call for evidence, inviting researchers, industry leaders and innovators to share their insights and collaborate to shape the future European strategy for research and technology infrastructure
The European Commission’s strategy focuses on advancing research infrastructure and technology infrastructure to drive scientific excellence, industrial competitiveness, and technological advancement. This strategy, which echoes ARISTOTELES’ objectives, seeks to create a stronger EU leadership in research, innovation, and technology. Key goals of the strategy include:
- strengthening the sustainability and accessibility of infrastructures
- promoting cross-border collaborations to enhance research potential
- maximizing the role of AI and digitalization in healthcare and beyond
- reducing fragmentation within the research and innovation ecosystem
- supporting startups and scaleups through strategic investments
- ensuring long-term sustainability of research and technological infrastructures
As highlighted by numerous reports, including the Draghi report on EU competitiveness, the EU needs a substantial boost in competitiveness. This is particularly the case in a moving and shaking global economy, where Europe needs a clear roadmap for its economic future. In the coming years, to maintain the competitiveness of Europe, the Commission will invest more and more resources in research and innovation, recognizing the contribution of both to securing and improving Europe’s position in research, innovation, and industrial ecosystems. This is particularly evident by the vision of the forthcoming European Strategy on Research and Technology Infrastructures.
ARISTOTELES is at the forefront of AI-driven healthcare transformation, and its success aligns with the Commission’s priorities for a green and digital transition. By enabling innovative and integrated solutions for managing chronic diseases, ARISTOTELES contributes to the vision of a more connected and advanced European healthcare system.
However, challenges remain, including regional disparities, budget constraints, and global uncertainty, which limit infrastructure development. The new strategy aims to address these challenges by enhancing complementarity, improving service offerings, and fostering coordinated investments to reduce risks and costs.
The call for evidence is open until 22 May 2025, and it is available in all official EU languages. ARISTOTELES encourages all stakeholders in climate-resilient infrastructure, sustainable construction, and innovation in the built environment to contribute their insights and help shape a forward-looking, robust European research and technology ecosystem.
